Doi Potol / দই পটল/Pointed gourd in thick yogurt based gravy/Dahi parwal/Bengali Doi potol Recipe

Ingredients:-

1.pointed gourd -6-7 pices.
2.Onion paste -2 tbsp.
3.Ginger paste -1 tsp.
4.Garlic paste -1 tsp.
5.Green chili paste -1 tsp.
6.Tomato puree -1/2 cup.
7.Turmeric powder -1 tsp.
8.Salt -1 tsp.
9.Sugar -1/2 tsp.
10.Red chili powder -1 tsp.
11.Cumin powder -1/2 tsp.
12.Coriander powder -1/2 tsp.
13.Garam masala powder -1/2 tsp.
14.Mustard oil -1/2 cup.
15.Water -1 cup.
16.Dry spices:-
1.Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp.
2.Dried red chili -1 piece.
3.Bay leaf -1 piece.

Method:-

 1.Scrape skin of potol & wash.

 2.Add Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.

 3.Add salt 1/2 tsp.

 4.Marinate.

 5.Heat oil in a wok.

 6.Fry the potol lightly.

 7.Keep aside.

 8.Temper the same oil with cumin seeds 1/4 tsp Bay leaf Red chili. 

 9.Add onion paste.

 10.Fry for 1 mins.

 11. Add Tomato puree.Cook for 2 mins.

 12. Add Garlic paste.

 13. Add Ginger paste.

 14. Add Green Chili paste.

 15.Stir.

 16.Kashmiri red chili powder ..

 17.Add cumin & coriander powder.

 18. Add Turmeric powder.

 19. Add Salt.

 20.Mix Well. Cook for 3 mins On medium flame.

 21. Add Beaten Yogurt. 

 22.Cook for 2 mins on low flame.

 

23. Mix Sugar.


24.Add Water.


25. Place potol in wok.


26.Cover.Cook for 5 min..On low flame.


 27.Remove lid. Add Garam masala.

28.Doi Potol is ready .
