Cholar Dal
Ingredients:-

1. Cholar Dal-250 gm.

2.Raisins-25 gm.

3.Cumin powder-1 tsp.

Foron:

4.Cumin seeds(1/2 tsp)+bay leaf(1)+dry red chilli(1).

5.Turmeric powder-1 tsp.

6.Chopped coriander leaves-2 tsp.

7.(Chopped)Green chilies -2 pics.

8.(Chopped)Tomato -1 big.

9.Chopped coconut -hands full.

10.Oil -1cup.

11.Salt -as required.

12.Ginger paste -1tsp.

13.Red chilli powder-1 tbsp.

14.Garam masala powder-1 tsp.

15.Sugar-1 tsp.

16.Water-as required.

Method:

1.Pressure cook Bengal gram (Chola/Chana Dal) with 2 cups of water,turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp of salt for 4 whistles on medium heat.

 2.Once the pressure settled down on its own then separate the dal from stock.keep aside.

 3.Heat oil in a pan.

 4.Fry cumin seeds,bay leaf,dry red chilli.

 5.Add chopped tomato.Saute for 1 minute.

6.Add chopped coconut.

 7.Add ginger paste.

 8.Add cumin powder.Mix well.

 9.Add raisins,chopped green chilli.

 10.Add red chilli powder,turmeric powder & salt.

11.Add Chola/chana dal cook for 5 minutes on high flame.

 12.Add sugar .

 13.Add the stock.Mix well.

 14.Add chopped coriander leaves.

 15.Add garam masala powder.Mix well.

 16.Cholar Dal is ready.serve with plain rice,roti,luchi,naan,paratha etc.
