Shingi fish gravy /fish curry bengali

Shingi fish gravy/  শিং মাছের গ্রেভি

It is a traditional Bengali recipe the dish is very simple but delicious easily digested and perfect for kids and patients .

Ingredients:-

1.Potato cut into small pieces -2.
2.Papaya -4 pieces.
3.Carrot -4 pieces.
4.Green Chili -2 pieces.
5.Turmeric powder -1 tbsp.
6.Salt- 1 tbsp.
7.Ginger paste -1 tsp.
8.Cumin powder- 1 tsp.
9.Chopped onions -2 pieces.
10.Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp.
11.Mustard oil- 6 tbsp.

Method-

1.Marinate the fish pieces with 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp of salt.

 2.Fry the fish pieces on both side into the hot oil .

 3.Take out the fish from pan. keep aside. 

 4.Now add some oil in the pan again.Add cumin seeds.

5.When cumin look brown add all vegetables and Saute on media flame for 3-4 minutes.

6.Add Pinch of turmeric powder.

7.Add chopped onion and Saute.

8.Add green chilies.

9.keep stirring in between.Add cumin powder.

10.Add ginger paste Saute for 1 minute.

 11.Add water for gravy.

12.Add turmeric powder .

 13.Add salt.

14.Cover the pan.lets it bring to boil for 7 minutes on medium flame .

15.Now  remove the lid.

16.Add fried fish pieces.Cook this in low flame with lid for 3 minutes.


17.The shingi fish gravy is ready to serve with plain rice.
