pumpkin Bharta is a healthy and tasty traditional recipe of Bengal .This
dish is very simple but delicious ,easily digested and perfect for lunch
and dinner with plain rice or roti.
Ingredients:
1.Pumpkin - 500 gm.(cut into pieces with skin).
2.Nigella seeds - 1/2 tsp
3.Chopped onion - 1 big.
4.Dried red chili - 1-2 pics.
5.Turmeric - 1/2 tsp.
6.Salt - as required.
7.Poppy seed paste - 2 tsp.
8.Mustard seed paste - 2 tsp.
9.Shredded coconut - 1/2 cup.
10.Mustard oil - 1/2 cup.
11.Water - 5 cups (for boil)
Method:-
1.Boil the pumpkin pieces (with skin)in a pan for 15 min.
2.Drain the water mash the pumpkin with hand.
3.Heat mustard oil.
4.Add nigella seeds.
5.Add dried red chili & Saute..
6.Add chopped onion.
7.Add mashed pumpkin & Mix well.
8.Add turmeric powder.
9.Add salt.
10.Add poppy seeds paste.
11.Add mustard seeds paste.Mix well.
12.Add shredded coconut.
13.Mix properly.
14.Serve with few drops of mustard oil.
15.Pumpkin varta is ready.
